Dear Cathedral High School community,
This letter is to inform you that a student at Cathedral High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in the school on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Hamilton Public Health Services (HPHS) is currently investigating to determine whether there is an epi-link between this new case and any previous cases at the school. The case is related to a cohort that is currently in quarantine.
Out of respect for the privacy of the individual, personal health information and identifiers will not be released. Persons who test positive for COVID-19 may not return to school until they are cleared by HPHS.
Hamilton Public Health Services has indicated that there are no school-related close contacts with this individual and therefore no risk to the school.
The school will continue to work closely with HPHS to ensure all health and safety measures are in place to prevent transmission to other students and individuals in the school community.
We strongly encourage students and staff to continue to follow public health guidance, especially during this next week of Spring Break. At this critical point in the pandemic, the following public health measures are crucial to help prevent and limit the spread of COVID-19:
• Socialize with your own household;
• Stay home and get tested if you feel ill;
• Participate in the targeted testing
offered by the HWCDSB;
every day, including during spring break, for COVID-19 symptoms;
• Practice good hand hygiene habits, masking, and physical distancing; and,
• Refrain from travelling.
If you have any questions about COVID-19, please consult the Hamilton Public Health COVID-19 School Health program Hotline at 905-974-9848 (option 5) or firstname.lastname@example.org
In closing, we wish to assure you of our ongoing commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff and will notify you of any new developments.
Mr. M. Daly
